1. (a) Describe how is the TCP/IP protocol stack organized compare to the ISI/OSI protocol
         stack. [5 Marks]
    (b) Differentiate between Bridge, Router and Gateway. [5 Marks]
    (c) What is difference between data plane and control plane in ATM. [5 Marks]
    (d) Discuss the functions of SONET layers. [5 Marks]

2. (a)Describe the Routing Information Protocol in detail with its message header and types. [10 Marks]
    (b) Write code for connection oriented client server programusing c++/Java. Assume suitable
          libraries. Use socket programming for establishing connection. [10 Marks]

3. (a) Using block diagram describe a typical undirectional dense Wavelength Division
         Multiplexing (DWDM) transmission system. What are advantages and disadvantages of
         DWDM? [10 Marks] 
    (b) Explain functions of ATM adaptation layers. Explain in detail the AAL1 and AAL2
         layers. [10 Marks]

4. (a) Explain the autonomous systems concept and explain EGP in detail. [10 Marks] 
    (b) Explain different traffic descriptors used in ATM. [5 Marks]
    (c) Explain the naming scheme used inSNMP. [5 Marks]

5. (a)What is the main function of DVMRP? How does it differ from RIP and OSPF? [10 Marks]
    (b) List different queuing models. Explain one in detail. [10 Marks]

6. (a) What is RSVP? WHat are features of RSVP? How RSVP  work? Give its frame
          format. [10 Marks]
    (b) Explain TCP segment with header format. [10 Marks]
